Legal Person Providing Information Regarding Elements of Computed Value

  • Examination of the costs of producing the goods being valued and other information which has to be obtained from outside the country of importation. However, in most cases the producer of the goods will be outside the jurisdiction of the authorities of the country of importation hence difficulty in verification.
  • The computed value method will generally be limited to those cases where the buyer and the seller are related, and the producer is prepared to supply to the authorities of the country of importation with the necessary cost information to facilitate any subsequent verification which may be necessary.
  • Information supplied by the producer of the goods for the purposes of determining the customs value under computed value method may be verified in another country by the authorities of the country of importation with the agreement of the producer and provided they give sufficient advance notice to the government of the country in question and the latter does not object to the investigation.
